Cologne is one of the famous cities in Germany for having a huge number of museum and galleries. There are lots of historic places and natural scenic beauty in Cologne. It is a city of endless charming natural scenes with famous cathedral. Cologne is the Germany’s 4th largest city and it’s mostly known in Germany for attractive places. Cologne has a area of 156.43 sq mi and population of 1,034,175. Cologne is like a living example of living with history and architecture. The places of Cologne attract the traveler from different parts of the world and give a memorable experience while roaming this place.

There are so many historical and natural places in Cologne also museums and galleries represents the image from past time. Some of them are described below.

• Kolner Dom:

The most attractive and historical place is Kolner Dom. It is a well known cathedral enriched with art and treasures from different times. Its construction work was started in 1248 and after facing so many difficulties it ends in 1880. It is declared as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996.

• Museum Schnutgen:

Its situated in the east side of Neumarkt. It is having a huge collection of medieval religious art and sculpture. Exhibition on Romanesque Cacilienkirche happen in regular interval.

• Romisch-Germanisches Museum:

In Romisch-Germanisches Museum you can experience the original Roman mosaic. Artifacts and sculpture from roman time showed here. The extraordinary 3rd century mosaic and glass items. And tweezers, lamps, Jewelers items from Roman times are kept here.

• Kolumba:

This is a place where art, history, architecture and valuable religious items of Archdiocese of cologne are preserved. This museum is designed by Swiss architect Peter Zumthor. Exhibitions are going regularly on early days Christianity to present. Here you can also see the 12th century carved ivory crucifix.

• Wallraf-Richhartz- Museum & Fondation Corboud:

This museum is having the valuable collection of paintings from 13th to 19th centuries. Its alos having a postmodern cube designed by OM Ungers. Canvases by monet and Cezanne are alos kept here.
